DIR Technologies to debut new version induction seal inspection solution

At Pack/Pharma Expo Las Vegas September 28-30, DIR Technologies (dir-technologies.com), a provider of quality and process control solutions for pharmaceutical primary packaging, will debut a simplified version of its groundbreaking Induction Integrity Verification System (I2VS) for bottles, which employs a pioneering application of thermal imaging for induction integrity assurance.  The new I²VS Lite will be introduced at DIR Technologies’ show booth, N-806.

I²VS Lite utilizes the same dynamic thermal imaging technology as the original I²VS and, in terms of both machines’ primary purpose of induction seal inspection and analysis, is identical to its predecessor.  The systems provide induction sealing integrity analysis for 100% of bottles without packaging line slowdown by performing inspection through the closed cap, without physical contact in an entirely passive, non–destructive fashion.

The groundbreaking infra-red technology, which was recognized with a 2015 Innovation Award at June’s ACHEMA World Forum in Germany, has the potential to cause an industry-wide paradigm change, as it renders obsolete conventional inspection techniques that rely on destructive, imperfect and often line-slowing sampling.

I²VS Lite is, as the name suggests, a simplified version of the original, optimized for non-pharmaceutical packagers and more economically viable than the heftier original. The machine’s chief objective – namely, DIR Technologies’ signature 100% in-line non-destructive induction seal inspection and analysis – is fully intact with the I²VS Lite. For the first time DIR’s potentially game-changing technology is presented in a configuration that is suited to a wide range of packagers including those in food, cosmetics, cleaning supplies, automotive and other industries.

“DIR’s thermal imaging technology offers pharmaceutical manufacturers increased operational efficiency, reduction in batch failure and the opportunity for more data-driven decisions,” says Fabian Schapiro, vice president of marketing & sales for DIR Technologies.  “We’re excited to offer this promising thermal imaging technology, which has been proven in other high stakes sectors such as firefighting and military defense, to pharmaceutical quality assurance and process control leaders at Pharma Expo. We’re pleased to now be able to offer the same leap from sampling to 100% to packagers in additional industries.”

Also for the first time at Pack Expo, DIR Technologies will be showcasing the DIR Eye, a new heat seal inspection application viable for a variety of markets outside the pharmaceutical sector, including the food and cosmetics industries.  The new solution will be demonstrated on the Shemesh Automation SealPro machine in the Shemesh / Elsner Engineeringbooth #C-3440.
